Is coffee good for you? The answer may be confusing because there are positive as well as negative effects of coffee. For me, I cannot get moving in the morning without a hot cup of coffee. Doesn’t matter how tired or sleep I am, all I need is a cup of coffee to keep working. Coffee has some kind of power that gives you energy and improves your mental sharpness when you are tired or lazy, but people say it has also some negative effects. So, I decided to do a little research on “is coffee good for health or not” and the result amazed me.
Here is what I discovered about it:
The Positive Side:
Coffee is very effective in reducing weight or helps people eliminating asthma. It also works as a pain killer for some people. Some effects are different for opposite sexes. Like For women, it reduces the chances of suicide and for men, it reduces the chance of developing problems with the gallbladder. It also helps to reduce the chances of developing some kinds of diabetes. It also prevents the development of liver and kidneys cancer. Caffeine works as a steroid. It is also effective on hepatocellular carcinoma, a type of liver cancer. It also reduces chances of having heart diseases. Just like green tea, it helps to prevent illness.
According to Harvard study, women who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee daily had a 25% lower risk of heart-related death as compared to women who didn’t drink coffee regularly. But this benefit is only for women not for men.
Another fact of coffee is, it reduces or lower the risks of developing 2 types of diabetes. It sharpens your memory and mental alertness. It helps you to perform better at your job.
According to a case study, people who drink an excess amount of coffee have higher IQ level and have improved short-term memory. It also fastens their metabolism and helps in reducing weight fast.
But an excess of everything is bad. It also has some negative effects.
The Negative Side:
It was very hard for me to find a negative effect of hot coffee or cold coffee related to health. And I am able to find few of them.
Coffee is like a poison for those who have been diagnosed or treated for abnormal heartbeat or arrhythmias. But people with normal heart functions can drink a few cups daily.
Caffeine can be addictive as well as coffee. Trying to give up coffee/caffeine can be really difficult and if you try hard you have to deal with many symptoms like irritability, depression, headache, insomnia, nervousness, tremors, and fatigue. People who are very addictive of coffee might experience these symptoms in a few hours without a coffee. Coffee is just like a drug for heavy drinkers. You need more and more of it with the passage of time. It also disturbs your sleep. So, it’s best if you drink 4-5 hours before going to bed.
